Paul Thomas Anderson’s Cameron Winter Documentary Acquired by Janus and Criterion for Fall Release

In 2015, Paul Thomas Anderson followed a Thomas Pynchon adaptation with a music documentary; in 2026, history repeats itself. Just off his Oscar-winning One Battle After Another, PTA’s capturing of Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall arrives this fall.

Aptly titled Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall, it’s been acquired by Janus Films and Criterion (all rights in North America) and captures the sold-out solo performance of Geese’s frontman in December of 2025. The film was directed and shot on 35mm and 16mm by PTA, while the music was recorded and produced for the project (and previously announced live album) by music producer Ariel Rechtshaid. It’s co-produced by director and actor Benny Safdie and produced by Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman, and Maggie Ambrose.

An exclusive North American 35mm tour of Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall begins on November 20. The prints will be made by Fotokem in Los Angeles, supervised by the filmmakers.
